13/9/2013 Dique Cabre Corral to Salta

Cool and damp, the day never warmed up
It was a damp morning, it had rained from about midnight on. Yesterdays weather was very odd, with the excessive heat, cloud and smoke.
Venturing out of the tent after the rain had stopped a quick coffee was brewed and a wet tent packed.
The ride from here was a bit of a climb but really was built up all the way. With housing, rural properties. Empanadas were enjoyed in Vaqueros, an hour was spent at the tienda chatting with the owner and guys selling charcoal there.
Fom here it was just an easy meander to Salta on a full stomach.
Arriving in the city, about 1130, the hunt for a hostal began.
\After lots of questions and browsing the hostal Nuevo Puesto was chosen.
Can you believe it, of all the hostals here in this city of 500,000 people, the one that Kurt and Lucas were staying in was booked.
We all cracked up when we spotted each other.
We are in a dorm together.
Some yerba mate was bought to drink during time here. It is very popular here. Being drunk almost anywhere using a bombilla (straw like apparatus) and a mate, the vessel.
We hung out together and just relaxed. The hostal had a kitchen and good supermarkets were nearby. A well deserved rest in good company was enjoyed.
From here it is down highway 40 to Mendoza, but who knows? Most definitely not me.
