4/2/2013 Buga to Cali (flat)
D66, T2.5Av 23.15, max 38, Tot10781,493
Flat and fine, dual carriage way
The first thing that needed doing was to clean the chain and gears on the bike, it’s amazing how much sand and grit get collected off a wet road.
Some fuel was bought at the gas station, these parts were washed down over the road and a bit of oil was applied.
Luis came round and we had breakfast at Carolinas mums cafe where I was staying.
He was heading to Cali today also. Kindly he had drawn up a map to get me off the main freeway into the city.
Sugar cane was on both sides of the road most of the way.
Quite common are non fatal motorcycle accidents, you see a bike down and start looking for the bloke with the limp. The police are generally on site. There are so many motorbikes on the road here. in Nicaragua they were mainly Chinese brands, here the Japanese are well represented.
Good time was made, on arriving at Cali and negotiating many but courteous drivers. A stop was made at a juice bar on the road in the city.
No sooner than I had pulled up Luis and his friend Orlando pulled up .They thought I had got lost. They were surprised I had got here so quick, so was I!!
Noticeably since leaving Medellín has been the lack of wind, it has been great.
A hotel was found, The Sartor on Av.8 Norte No. 20-50, it has ground floor rooms, not flash, but at 15 dollars a night and walking distance to the city centre it is good value.
Time here was spent exploring the city and relaxing. A bit of washing was also done.
