8/2/2013 Timbio to El Bordo

Wet and cool in the early part, dry in the afternoon
Daimler had told me last night he would ride to Rosas with me. Great stuff, we got on well and there were two serious climbs to Rosas. Though there was an 18km downhill run from Rosas.
We had arranged to head off a 0730, ready I was, we coasted down town for a coffee.
The day was wet and overcast, we were in the clouds, after all Timbio was at nearly 5500ft. As soon as we left town the climbing began, company was great, though not a necessity for me but always enjoyed.
The road was very wet and consequently slippery. My helmet was worn for the first time in some days.
Arriving at the base of the last range before Rosas, Daimler asked to ride my bike while we were stopped. “es no una problema” was my reply. I climbed on the mountain bike. He, being 27 years younger than took the 5km climb in his stride, not even in the lowest gear I might add.
He hopes to tour later in his life, assuring him he had the years.
“It’s the time, the need or lack thereof and responsibility that most people are tethered to”, keeping many people from this activity. “Money is not such a great issue with this form of travel”.
Reaching Rosas, very wet and both in remarkably good shape!! We had coffee and fish soup.
We said our goodbyes, he was heading back home to Timbio, myself El Bordo.
Immediately ahead of me was 18km downhill, though the road was wet and had some very tight curves. Taking my time and on the brakes the whole way, concentration was paramount, the road was by no means a tarmac.
Soon the rain stopped. On the northern outskirts of El Bordo, off to the east was a unique shaped mountain, it was called Montana Cerro de Lerma.
The motel Euro was chosen, it to had a good flight of steps up to the rooms.
Washing was done in the shower. Getting to bed about 0930, a sleepless night was had up to about 0300. Across the road was a pool parlour. So most of the night, the crack of pool balls was heard, with loud music and yahooing. Just to top it all off, a couple in the next room were going 10 to the dozen for most of the night, enthusiastically and very vocally would best describe their activities. Falling asleep at some stage only to wake up to further action in the said room.
