This town has a relaxing feel about it and the food is good, needless to say an extra day was spent here.
Yesterday a moto was taken to playa Ojito , some 3 k along the coast, here a swim was enjoyed, a couple of beers, a sleep and a read.
The guy on the moto never did return at 1500 to pick me up, walking half way back then catching a ride on another moto, it was no problem.
Being the only person at the beach, the guy told me the weekends are busy. People coming from as far away as Medellin. He kindly scaled a coco palm and knocked the top of the seed to enjoy the milk.
I must apologise, for a couple of days now I have been describing this coast as the Pacific, it still is infact the Caribbean.
Having spent this afternoon in the library and grabbing an atlas, my ignorance of this fact became embarrassingly evident when looking at a large map.
A good restuarant has been found across the road where $3.50 buys an evening meal of fish, salad, rice and platano.
Tablets bought individually, have nearly sorted the cold.
However after almost a year some maintenance on the bod is needed. One of my crowns fell out over tea the other night.
Lucky it was not swallowed.
It would have been a dodgy task retrieving it, one not welcomed.
Today at the local health clinic, a young dentist 2 years out of dent school in Barranquilla, drilled things a bit, and built a platform for it to be glued back onto. She did a great job.
All for $15, though she said it is temporary, not a problem, but she said “no more pork rind”. Life will be tough, they do just the best deep fried pork pieces on the street here.
This small town is very fortunate to have a library, buying a local newspaper , a couple of hours was spent translating an article. A peace corp guy in Nic told me it helped him alot in the learning process.
A heavy shower was recieved today, though the afternoon is perfect.
Being a very small town with me hanging about talking and just blending in as best I can. A shop keeper asked if I was living here. No, but it would be a nice spot, if one had a bit of purpose.
The rest has been welcome, like the people here.
