19/8/2011 Red Oak Park all day
Arising about 0830 and feeling a tad dusty, some time was spent at the office till after midday, chatting, and drinking coffee whilst trying to do some computer activities.
I headed back to my suite about 1400hrs and promptly fell asleep.
Some time later John swung by and wandered into the unit, a large cigar hanging from his mouth, it’s my last one he said.
Getting changed we had a yak and did a quick cruise around the park to see if the blow last night had caused any damage, none was spotted.
We then headed back to his place and spent the next couple of hours out on his back balcony taking in the lovely view of the cove below. Various boats were pulling into the bar that was waterside below us. The three dogs, Bud, Bob and Rosie kept us entertained as did a few beers.
It was a relaxing couple of hours. We then headed out to Captain Rons for a meal. This place is where I had tea the other night, this evening it was full with tourists ,we dined here and had a few more drinks. It was a laid back atmosphere coupled with just the most beautiful balmy evening.
A constant stream of boats of all shapes and sizes were discharging their occupants for tea and drinks at the bar. A band was playing, a good night was in the making.
About 1900hrs John suggested we go to Tres Hombres, a haunt of his not far away.
On our arrival we were greeted by the bar girls and caught up with the owner, an attractive woman who was running what appeared to be a very successful bar and restaurant.
By this time John and I were getting pretty enthusaistic about the whole night.
We parked ourselves at the bar, I ordered each of us a Gin and Tonic, of which John was not to familiar he is a seven seven man which is Seagrams seven and seven up., nice drop. He introduced me to this brew next round.
The staff in the bar were great, we had so much fun stirring them while all the time meeting people as they came to the bar. I was Johns Aussie mate.
Greg turned up about 2000hrs just to make sure his Grandpa was ok. He was ok alright, we were having a ball.
Sometime later after closing we joined the staff and owner as they were sitting about after the nights work ,sitting around yakking
At sometime we left and headed back to the park and settled in back at Johns place finishing and enjoying a few more seven sevens.
Greg drove me back to my unit and relieved John of his car keys.
It was a brilliant night spent with a special guy whom I am so priviledged to have been able to spend time with.
If I have just half his energy and enthusiasm at 82 I will be a happy man .
