Cool and clear.
It was nice to have been under the rancho, though a heavy due had dripped moisture off the iron roof.
I did not want to waste the trout, especially as it was a gift, the restaurant that gave me water last night, cranked their music up at 0730.
Packing up, I headed over there and explained my predicament with my stove, the girls in the kitchen asked the owner if they could cook for me “Si”
So I enjoyed fried trout and coffee with them. The owner wouldn’t let me pay so I said to the owner this is for the girls to buy a drink after work. It was such a nice experience, eating in the kitchen, watching and talking with them as they prepared the days food.
Outside a really shy girl was grinding chillies etc for pimiento, that is always put on your table here, believe me it can be fiery.
This stove business needed sorting out. In Huamachaco, a fairly decent size, I guess city. The net was used. Hernan they guy from Chile won’t send to Peru.
I found some O- rings and thought it was fixed. I repaired it on the footpath and ended up with a fair audience.
Anyway at my hospedaje, same deal there is air in the lines, everything has been done, stripped a few times, all new seals. It has affected my plans to stay inland.
I decided to spend the night here to sort this out. Three hours with the stink of petrol achieved nothing.
Hernan was spoken to again, thankfully he has found an address in Lima he can send a new one. Travelling without it is almost impossible.
I can do without it for a while on the coast to Lima.
The day was spent resting and eating.
Anyway, at mid night last night, a mad rush was made for the loo, I only got as far as the laundry and threw up most of yesterdays culinary takings.
Crawling back to bed, feeling a bit better, the diarrhoea started, not cautiously I might add. So all night was in and out of my room. Luckily I had heaps of toilet paper, none is in the loo, though you are presented with a roll and towel on arrival.
I am in bed this morning, feeling better, able to bring you this, so it can’t be all bad.
My bod is telling me to have a rest, that I will do today, 4000km in a few months, most of it in hills or mountains has had some impact, be it small.
I have to finalise the stove saga.
The bottom line is during the night in my tiny room gas was leaking from the stove, I probably got sick from the fumes.
I moved hotels today to a more luxurious place with a big room and plenty of hot water.
I slept from 1200 to 1530 hours it was great.
My first food of the day was enjoyed a 1600hrs.
